Neil Maltby is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and International Business in the Department of Management at StFX University.  His teaching and research interests focus on small business & start-ups, growth and internationalization. He teaches Entrepreneurship, New Venture Development, Entrepreneurial Finance and International Business, and has offered courses in International Business at South-Central University for Nationalities, Wuhan, China and Changzhou University, Changzhou, China.

In partnership with the StFX Discoverbox, Neil leads the entrepreneurial ecosystem at StFX University. This involves supporting students and new venture development, launches, and fundraising. Over the last ten years Neil has organized over forty student pitch events, mentored summer entrepreneurial internships, supported students in regional pitch competitions, and supported ongoing ventures of graduates.

His research focus involves start-ups, growth & internationalization. Neil’s recent research includes;

• co-author of the proptech case study “GRID: Disrupting the real estate industry with blockchain” (2023) with Ivey Business School Publishing
• author of the book chapter “Corporate Governance, the Craft Brew Alliance Inc and A-B” in the 2020 book “New Developments in the Beer Industry: The Role of Institutions and Governance” editors Erik Madsen, Jens Gammelgaard and Bersant Hobdari, Oxford University Press.
• co-author of the 2020 case study “Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company: Crafting International Opportunities” with Ivey Business School Publishing.

Neil led three international exchange programs for students to China and Cuba, and served as the Schwartz International Exchange Faculty Advisor for 15 years. A proponent of engaging pedagogy, Neil led the implementation of business simulations, three international academic mobility consortia, classroom response systems, an online stock market simulation, and is the co-founder of the Annual Global Issues Forum.
