About Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is a dynamic program. Students develop new venture plans and pitches, social ventures, and global initiatives. Our students participate in pitch competitions at Schwartz and abroad to develop their business models, raise financing, and network with industry. Schwartz alumni provide support and mentorship to our students, and faculty work one-on-one with aspiring entrepreneurs. Students work closely with the DiscoverBox innovation centre and the Enactus student society for responsible entrepreneurship.

Why Study Entrepreneurship at StFX?

Entrepreneurship is a dynamic way of thinking and acting that capitalizes on opportunities with innovation to create value and solve problems. The program is of interest to students who want to launch their own start-ups and social enterprises, as well as to students who plan to work in small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), family businesses, and service providers like the small business banking industry or government agencies that focus on SMEs. In this program students will learn about creating and evaluating a new venture idea and analyzing the desirability, feasibility, and viability of these ventures. Students develop knowledge about launching and growing a venture, as well as skills like creativity, problem solving, solution development, and compelling communication – abilities that are highly transferrable to employment in the corporate sector.

First Year at a Glance

In your first and second year, you will take core courses shared among each of the Faculty of Business disciplines. This will allow you to build a strong foundation and explore what the various disciplines have to offer.

There are many post graduate education and training opportunities available to Entrepreneurship graduates, including:

• 5 year, 2 degree BBA Entrepreneurship BSc Human Nutrition pathway
• CBV (Chartered Business Valuator)
• MBA in Innovation Law
• Numerous recent grads have participated in “Venture for Canada” which provides a 2-year paid internship in a start-up in Canada
