Vijay Vishwakarma
Dr. Vijay Kumar Vishwakarma has been a valued St. Francis Xavier University member since Fall 2008. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Gerald Schwartz School of Business. Dr. Vishwakarma earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of New Orleans (USA) and obtained an M.S. in Finance and Economics. His academic credentials include an MBA, B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. (Hons) in Physics from prestigious institutions in India.
In his teaching, Dr. Vishwakarma brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to a diverse range of courses, including Introductory Financial Management, Cases in Financial Management, Advanced Financial Management, International Financial Management, Financial Statement Analysis, Investments, and Derivatives. His passion for education extends beyond the classroom; he is dedicated to mentoring students in competitions like the CFA Investment Research Challenge and advising them for professional exams like the CFA and CSC. Since 2018, he has taken on the role of Principal Contact (PC) for the CFA Institute, overseeing StFX's CFA university affiliation and ESG certification.
Dr. Vishwakarma's commitment to advancing scholarly research is underscored by his role as a reviewer for various journals and conferences. His research interests encompass real estate, financial econometrics, and corporate finance, and he has published and presented extensively on these subjects, contributing to the body of knowledge in his field. His achievements in both research and teaching have been recognized with several honours. Additionally, he co-authors the widely acclaimed textbook Fundamentals of Investing, published by Pearson Canada, with Smart, Zutter, and Yüce.
