StFX is once again celebrating Pride Month on campus in January and the X-Pride Society, one of the university’s largest student societies, has numerous events planned throughout the month that will focus on celebration, remembrance and supporting each other.

All interested are invited to attend upcoming events, with more details available by following Facebook and Instagram at @xpridesociety and @xgsdsa.

Pride Month on campus began with a flag-raising ceremony on Jan. 4th followed on Jan. 8th with the X-Pride Society hosting a Pride Vigil to honour and remember the lives that have been lost as a result of homophobic and transphobic violence.

Pride is a time to celebrate, but also a time for remembrance and healing, and the vigil is an excellent example of this, say members of the X-Pride Society executive.

This year, X-Pride has many partners helping them put on their events, executive members say.

“On January 12, we are hosting Pride Paint Night with the Bloomfield HUB. The Inn has partnered with us to host Sex Toy Bingo on the 19, Pride Wing Night and Coffee House on the 25, and MasQueerade on the 28. The U, CFXU, and the Alumni Office have been so helpful in making all of our events happen as well!

“We are truly so thankful for all the help that we are given during Pride Month and we think that is what Pride is all about: supporting each other.”
