Introducing the xaverian: Newly redesigned magazine for alumni and friends launches

For generations, StFX alumni have carried a piece of their alma mater with them, across Canada, around the world, and into every corner of life. That bond and sense of community have always been at the heart of what makes StFX’s alumni network so strong. Now, that connection has taken a new shape as the StFX Alumni Affairs Office and Marketing & Communications have introduced the xaverian, the newly redesigned magazine for alumni and friends.

Published annually each December/January, the first print edition (available HERE) is fresh off the press. Three digital issues are planned to follow throughout 2026, sharing updates, engaging stories, and highlighting community and achievement.

the xaverian is more than a fresh look. It’s a reflection of StFX’s commitment to thoughtful storytelling, celebrating the StFX community, and staying connected with the voices of our alumni,” says Alumni Affairs Director Shanna Hopkins.

The name of the publication itself is a nod to the past, Ms. Hopkins says. the xaverian was once the title of the university’s yearbook. Reviving the name honoured our history, she says, while reimagining it for today’s StFX.

The newly redesigned magazine is also one step in a new strategic approach to alumni communications, developed in partnership with StFX alumni. She says the Alumni Affairs Office recently partnered with an external agency to connect with StFX graduates and friends to better understand what they want when it comes to staying connected with StFX and each other and the myriad of ways StFX can do so.

“We’re looking forward to this new chapter,” Ms. Hopkins notes, “and sharing the stories that connect us, inspire us, and remind us why being a Xaverian is a lifelong journey.”
