I am a dedicated and passionate Nurse Educator with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, earned in 2008 from St. Francis Xavier University. With over 13 years of diverse clinical experience, my career has been deeply rooted in obstetrics and pediatrics. During this time, I worked at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in the Children & Women’s Health Unit under the Nova Scotia Health Authority. I also had the privilege of working as an Obstetrical & Pediatric travel nurse, providing care to remote Indigenous and Mennonite communities across Canada— a role that deeply enriched my perspective on culturally responsive healthcare.

Since 2019, I have been honored to return to the Rankin School of Nursing, this time as a Nurse Educator, where I mentor and teach aspiring nurses. I work closely with students across various levels, facilitating second- and third- year labs, third- and fourth-year clinical placements, and supporting learners in our accelerated and distance education programs. 

Beyond teaching, I am actively engaged in initiatives that align with my values and interests of creating an environment that is inclusive and innovative for students. I am a member of the Nova Scotia College of Nurses and the CASN-Planetary Health group, contributing to research aimed at integrating planetary health into nursing curricula across Canada. Additionally, I serve on the Indigenous Education Committee, striving to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for our Indigenous nursing students.

Currently pursuing a Master of Adult Education with a health focus, I am driven to deepen my expertise in planetary health, trauma-informed care, and innovative teaching practices. My dedication to lifelong learning and advancing nursing education fuels my mission to inspire the next generation of nurses while fostering a healthier, more equitable learning environment.
