StFX Anthropology Professor Dr. Terry Beaulieu's article "Kinship I" was recently published in McGill Indigenous Law Association's publication, Rooted.

This is what Dr. Beaulieu had to say about his article:

"What is Indigenous identity, and how do we determine who is, and who is not, Indigenous? These are questions that have become increasingly apparent for many Canadians over the last several years. They are questions, however, that are often much more difficult to answer than many Canadians recognize. My story illustrates some of the complexities that can surround Indigenous identity. It is also a story that illustrates the ongoing - but often hidden and unrecognized - multigenerational impacts that racist societal mores and colonial government policy has had on Indigenous identity. Mine is also an evolving story whose ending has yet to be writ. This article, in the McGill Indigenous Law Association’s publication, Rooted, is a brief exploration of my journey…so far."

Please join the Anthropology Department in celebrating Dr. Terry Beaulieu's incredible achievement.
