One of the great discoveries about stars was that many of them are variable and pulsate. This variation was observed by Indigenous peoples around the world before being observed by European Astronomers in the 16th century. Pulsating variable stars are valuable laboratories for studying the internal physics and the evolution of stars in general. In this talk I will review the physics of stellar pulsation and how we can use them to test stellar evolution models and how stars interact with their circumstellar environments and with each other.
