Christian Culture Lecture Series

Mandate 

The Christian Culture Lecture Series, founded in 1992, is an annual set of lectures by internationally established scholars of religion, scripture, church history, and ethics. 

Invited speakers provide a minimum of two public lectures on topics related to their scholarly expertise and one intensive seminar which will concentrate on their current research, especially unpublished research. 

The series gives particular attention to themes highlighted by Vatican II. Although most invited speakers come from the Catholic tradition, other Christians and non/Christians are also invited. 

Upcoming Speaker 

Professor Gabriel Said Reynolds, Crowley Professor of Islamic Studies and Theology at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, will give the 2023-24 Christian Culture lectures. On Sunday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 PM in Schwartz 156, Dr Reynolds will speak on “To Whom does Abraham Belong?  An Exploration of Abraham in Islamic Tradition.” On Monday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 PM in Schwartz 205, he will speak on “Catholicism Engaging with Islam and Muslims: From Vatican II until Today.”
