The StFX Master of Education program consists of 12 - three credit courses for a total of 36 credits. A majority of the program is taught online.
Please note: The StFX Master of Education degree is not a licensing degree; it does not grant a teachers’ license. If you are interested teaching in the public school system in Canada, a Bachelor of Education degree (BEd) is required. International students admitted to the Master of Education degree program are not eligible to apply for a deferral of admission.
As per Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada regulations, the StFX MEd program does not qualify international students for a study permit, a post-graduation work permit, or permanent residency in Canada. International students are able to complete the MEd program by studying online, from outside of Canada, without any Canadian immigration documents such as a study permit. International students who have been accepted into the MEd program should not expect to travel to Canada for any segment of the program. Questions about IRCC policy, study permits, or visas, can be directed to the StFX Office of Internationalization: @email.
Please be aware the Master of Education program does not offer scholarships and is completely online and international students are expected to complete the program outside of Canada.
International students applying to the Master of Education program must provide World Education Services or WES confirmation of degrees.
Please note, international students admitted to the Master of Education degree program are not eligible to apply for a deferral of admission.
