The StFX Master of Education program consists of 12 - three credit courses for a total of 36 credits (10 - three credit courses for a total of 30 credits starting July 2025). A majority of the program is taught online.
This program is a Distance Learning Program with a 2-week in person residency component. Foreign Nationals in this program will require a study permit for the in-person duration of the program - study permits will be issued for the duration of the in-Canada portion only. Students from visa-required countries will also need to be approved of a Temporary Resident Visa (visitor visa) before travelling. Please read more about this HERE.
This program is not eligible for Post-graduation work permit as more than 50% of the program is delivered through Distance Learning. Please read more about this HERE.

Please note: The StFX Master of Education degree is not a licensing degree; it does not grant a teachers’ license. If you are interested teaching in the public school system in Canada, a Bachelor of Education degree (BEd) is required. International students admitted to the Master of Education degree program are not eligible to apply for a deferral of admission.
The Master of Education program does not offer scholarships.
International students applying to the Master of Education program must provide World Education Services or WES confirmation of degrees.
