Loneliness and Social Isolation
Loneliness is subjective. You can be surrounded by people and still feel lonely. Loneliness involves the perception that our existing relationships do not meet our needs. You can read more here. Going to university is a big transition for many students and it is not uncommon to feel lonely at times. Here are some tips to deal with loneliness.
As a way to reduce feelings of loneliness, it is important to try to connect with a few people. Here are some tips on how to connect with other people at StFX:
- Join a Student Society at StFX.
- Be more active. Check out StFX's Recreation page, and Well-Being at X's Physical Activity page.
- Volunteer. See Well-being at X's Volunteering Page.
- Check out events in the local community and at StFX.
